The Making of A Boy Project

‘The Making of A Boy’ is a therapy based arts and creativity initiative, funded by Tusla Dormant funding, involving a group of students from St Louis Community School Kiltimagh, Co. Mayo.

The group was facilitated by Peter Devers, Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist, Knock Counselling Centre &  Carmel Balfe, Artist/Puppeteer.

A group of 18 Transition Year boys created  a fictional character of a boy from East Mayo and named him Peter Sheldon.

A 4-minute animated film was created by all involved based on the life of the fictional character. The boys also narrated the film.

The aim of this project is to explore the challenges and experiences of growing up as a boy in East Mayo.

The animation can be viewed below.
